Boss on Mooney

ADAM Murray is confident Dan Mooney will prove a hit with Harriers fans this season.

The former Altrincham and Chester man has agreed a deal to become a Reds player from 1st July and takes his place in a first Murray-shaped squad in DY10.

The Aggborough boss hopes the forward-thinking Mooney can find a home in Worcestershire after failing to settle over the course of the last season or two.

Murray has finally got his man, too, after waiting patiently to work with the 25-year-old.

He explained: “Dan’s someone I tried to get down to Eastbourne, but it was obviously too far to make the move with his family.

“For me Dan is one of the standout players at this level. He’s somebody who, at the minute, needs an environment that can get the best out of him.

“His last couple of moves, he’ll admit himself, he hasn’t settled and, as a footballer, when you do have that, there’s a reason you’re not settling.

“I’ve had a couple of really good chats with Dan, and I really like his character. He’s a feisty character and a firework, but I enjoy those characters!

“I think if you manage them right, they end up being really good assets for you.”

On what he hopes to see from Mooney in front of the Aggborough faithful, Murray went on to say: “He’s at a very good age but he’s very dynamic, he’s got X-Factor and is another one that that I feel, in the final third, will get people off their seat.

“He’s got an end product, which you have to have if you want to win games of football.

“He gives us another dynamic, he can assist, and he can score and is excellent with the ball at his feet and running at people.

“I’ve said before, when I’m standing on the touchline, I want to be excited and he’s someone that will excite people.

“We’ve got people here who can get people off their seats and make things happen – Dan is definitely that.”
